Rebels Claims Lead In Sixth Inning To Defeat the Alamance Giants
The Rebels took the lead late in the game for a 5-3 victory over the previously undefeated Alamance Giants on Sunday. The game was tied at two with Raleigh Rebels batting in the top of the sixth when Mitch Strobin singled to put the Rebels ahead.
Vince Strickland started for the Rebels throwing 3 scoreless innings before giving way to the eventual winning pitcher, Joey Sogluizzo, in the 4th inning. Damon Herbert recorded the last six outs to earn the save.
Paul Burmeister took the loss for the Giants while striking out five.
The Rebels tallied ten hits in the game. Ken Davidson and Herbert each collected two hits to lead the Rebels.
Jerry Russell led the Giants with two hits in three at bats.
